Lab-grown diamonds: IGI and GIA reports
Selected lab-grown diamond pieces, such as our IGI lab-grown diamond rings, can come with a grading report from an independent laboratory, most commonly the IGI (International Gemological Institute). Some stones may be graded by the GIA (Gemological Institute of America).
A grading report typically records:
- A unique report number, often laser-inscribed on the diamond's girdle
- Shape and cutting style
- Carat weight and measurements
- Color and clarity grades, and cut grade where applicable
- Polish, symmetry and fluorescence
- A statement that the diamond is laboratory-grown, and the growth method where disclosed
How to verify a report
Enter the report number on the issuing lab's official website (IGI: igi.org, Verify Your Report; GIA: gia.edu, Report Check). The details should match the paper or digital report you received.
Moissanite
Moissanite pieces may include a moissanite certificate card describing the stone. Moissanite tests as a diamond on many standard handheld diamond testers. It is a different gemstone from diamond, and we describe it as moissanite on our product pages.
Metal
Our jewelry is mainly made in 925 sterling silver, and many designs are also offered in 10K, 14K or 18K solid gold. For solid gold products, we include a sample of the material in the order so you can have it identified yourself. See our Authentication Promise.
Which certificate comes with my item?
This varies by product, stone and order. Check the product description, or ask us before you order. For custom pieces, we confirm stone type and certification during the design approval stage.
